Concentrated Area of Study:

Jim Eikrem's interests lie in acting, directing, movement, narrative theatre, and voice for the actor.  He has performed as an actor throughout much of the United States and abroad in Japan.  In Jim's hometown of Portland, Oregon, he served for ten years on the faculty of Portland Actors Conservatory.  He received two awards for direction and production from the Oregon Theater Awards Society.

Jim continues to act and direct here at CMU, most recently having portrayed Mark Twain for the Riecker Literary Series.  That performance will be reprised for national distribution on public radio in fall of 2006.

Of special interest to Jim is clown performance.  He developed “Clown Chowder” here at CMU with ten students which performed in fall 2003.  This along with similar work at Portland State University and Portland Actors Conservatory formed the basis for a presentation at the Kennedy American College Theatre Festival Region III in 2006: “The Red Nose as Mask”.

Jim Eikrem is a frequent “stringer” for the Midland Daily News, writing reviews of local theatre performances.

Jim continues training in Fitzmaurice Voicework and is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).
