Theatre and Interpretation
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Directing

Entrance requirements:  Students may apply for admission to the BFA upon completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours of CMU courses (including TAI 170, 177, and 182) AND after having been involved in a minimum of two (2) TID productions (University Theatre, faculty-directed Studio, or faculty-directed interpretation productions).  At least one (1) of these involvements must be in performance.  Transfer students who have fulfilled course work and production requirements must have been involved in a minimum of one (1) CMU TAI faculty-directed production.

Ongoing requirements:  During the course of his/her studies, the student must be actively engaged in a minimum of six (6) productions in the areas of performance, directing, assistant directing, and/or stage management.  If the student's activity is in the area of performance, assistant directing, and/or stage management, the production must be faculty directed.  If the student's activity is in the area of directing, the production must be faculty supervised.

*Capstone experience (TAI 460, BFA Studio):
Two semesters prior to graduation, each BFA candidate will submit in writing a proposal for her/his BFA Studio.  The project proposal should be designed to demonstrate the candidate's proficiency in her/his area of specialization, and must include both a written and oral component as well as a performance component.
BFA Studio proposals must be approved by the student's TID advisor and the faculty member who will act as adviser to the project.

Additional expectations:  Each BFA candidate will meet at least once a year with her/his TID advisor for the purpose of discussing that student's progress and performance in CMU productions and classes. (Discussion will include but is not limited to: attitude, responsibility, reliability, ability to work with others, ability to take direction and criticism, academic growth, etc.).
