Adapted by Jo Roets English Translation by Audrey Van Tuyckom based on the play Cyrano de Bergrac by Edmond Rostand The play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmund Rostand opened in Paris at the Porte Saint-Martin Theatre December 28, 1897. Little did Rostand know at the time that this play would become his signature work introducing one of the greatest roles for the stage—Cyrano de Bergerac—the man with the big nose and panache! This role, which was written for the great French actor Benoit Constant Coquelin, has been played by some of the greatest actors of our time including Ralph Richardson, José Ferrer, Christopher Plumber, Derek Jacobi and most recently, Kevin Kline.
