University Theatre

SUMMER SEASON

For over 20 years, the Summer Theatre program has earned the respect and admiration of CMU students and staff, and has enriched the lives of numerous individuals throughout the Central Michigan region. The program is widely endorsed by the Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts and other university administrators as an exemplary program for undergraduate student involvement.

The CMU Summer Theatre program consists of a paid company of 10 to 15 students performing three plays in Mount Pleasant and other selected communities in the region. However, unlike typical shows, these same students are responsible for all aspects of the production, including set construction, lighting, props, box office management, and more. This format offers theatre students a rare opportunity to gain insights into the broader aspects of production beyond their individual performances, providing an educational and pre-professional experience matched by few other institutions.
